Since I am in the market for a new homes Austin TX, I have been doing a lot of research on whether to buy new construction or to buy an existing home. Here are some of the pros and cons of new homes that I have discovered:
Pros:
* New houses tend to require less money for maintenance and repairs than older houses. This makes sense since everything in the home is brand new. Additionally, if anything does go wrong it may be covered by a warranty, depending on the builder who sells you the home.
* You most likely will get to have some input on the design of the home, allowing you to have it built to your specifications.
Cons:
* Unless you want to spend a lot of money on a completely custom home, you probably will have limited choices in terms of design. Your home will most likely look just like your neighbor's home since housing developments tend to have just a few models to choose from.
* New houses may lack character compared to older homes. If you prefer something a little more unique, you may be better off buying a home that was built sometime in the past.
